The HPDP program stresses the importance of academic achievement of it's players as well as the development of athletic skills. The program begins during the first week of April with try-outs and the forming of an all-star team. Players then participate in an intensive 3 month training program. Training sessions continue until the last week of June. Players will then be given the opportunity to put their new skills to practical use by participating in a Junior Varsity High School Summer Basketball League. Competing in a Junior Varsity league is a valuable experience in preparing players to play at the High School level. Training sessions also continue during the Summer League season. Team work-outs are held twice a week and then once a week during the Summer League season. Games are played twice a week beginning in the end of June and continue through July with the top 8 competing in play-offs during the first week in August. |
